As entrepreneurs, we often measure success by milestones, achievements, and growth. But perhaps the greatest measure of success is found in something far less visible, the lives we touch when no one is watching.
Giving back should never be a transaction. It should not be driven by the hope of recognition, applause, or fame. The most meaningful acts of generosity are those given freely, simply because someone once believed in us, opened a door for us, or extended a helping hand when we needed it most.
When you give from a place of purpose rather than praise, you leave footprints on hearts, not just on balance sheets.
As your journey unfolds, pay close attention to the company you keep. There are people in your circle who genuinely celebrate your victories. They encourage your growth, challenge you to become better, and find joy in watching you succeed. Their support is sincere because it comes from a place of love, respect, and authenticity.
Then there are those who seem to be standing beside you but are quietly hoping you stumble. Their words may sound encouraging, yet their actions tell a different story. They clap for you in public but question you in private. They smile at your progress while secretly becoming uncomfortable with your success.
This is not meant to make you fearful or suspicious of others. Rather, it is an invitation to become discerning.
Ask yourself: Do I know the difference between those who celebrate my journey and those who simply watch it unfold?
More importantly, am I responding with wisdom?
Wisdom does not ask you to become bitter or to close your heart. It asks you to protect your peace, cherish those who genuinely pour into your life, and release the need to win the approval of those who never intended to support you.
Continue to give. Continue to encourage. Continue to open doors for others, even when no one applauds your kindness. Your greatest contribution will never be measured by the attention you receive but by the lives that are stronger because you chose to serve.
At the end of the day, remember this: not everyone in your circle is assigned to your purpose. Some are there to walk the journey with you. Others are there to teach you the value of discernment.
The question is not who is in your circle. The question is: Who has truly earned a place in your corner?
